Happy Wednesday morning to you!

It is inauguration day, and whether you were happy with the results of our presidential election or not, there is no doubt we are in for a great deal of change. Some of you have been eagerly looking forward to these changes. Others of you are deeply concerned. But, for most of us, what happens next is out of our hands. The only thing we can now truly control is how to respond to the changes. This reminds me of a a quote that we should all try to remember today and every day: Happiness is not a destination; it is a way of life. So choose to be happy and do your best to make others feel that way, too.

Have a great Wednesday, and thanks for reading.

Meet Scott Pederson: Passionate about art and its real-world applications

Before becoming a teacher, Scott Pederson, who grew up in Lake Mills, sought a degree in graphic design and worked for a small plastics manufacturing company, where he designed everything from print materials to trade show booth graphics. However, after becoming a stay-at-home dad, he decided that he wanted to teach art, a profession that would allow him to not only share both his love of art and creativity but also his real-world experience.
“I often hear seniors say they still have projects hanging at home from when they were a freshman or sophomore, which is great,” Pederson says. “The most satisfying thing is when students don't think they can do something, and then helping them change that fixed mindset to a growth mindset with tools and knowledge to create something they are proud of.”
