Good Friday morning to you!

To vaccinate or not to vaccinate? William Shakespeare could not have envisioned the havoc that COVID-19 has wreaked upon us. And with the solution that so many have waited patiently for in their basements now just in front of us, news reports show that a surprisingly high number of Americans are opting to skip the vaccination. Maybe they think they won’t need it. Maybe they don’t trust the government. Maybe they think they are just too busy to deal with it. Whatever the “maybe” is, this pandemic is real for our society. I want, as much as anyone, to get back to “normal,” to fully open our economy and to let capitalism work. But I also want to be sensitive to our front line health care workers, the elderly and those with underlying health conditions. I believe in American innovation, and we are seeing it in action right now with the development of the vaccines. Yes, the distribution needs to speed up, and it will. We need to do all we can to work toward destroying this coronavirus and the gloom and doom that has accompanied it, and vaccinations are part of that solution. I will be taking the vaccination, and I hope you will consider joining me. I look forward to a better tomorrow.

Have a fantastic Friday, and, as always, thanks for reading.

Meet Dr. Rachel Revell

Dr. Rachel Revell was in her third year of dental school and doing clinical rotations.
“I was leaning toward being an endodontist — a root canal specialty — because I like to work fast and efficiently as a way to practice. Some of my teachers were encouraging me, said I was a ‘natural.’ Then, my third day of rotation in a pediatric dental clinic at Siouxland Community Health, I knew I wanted to be a pediatric dentist. I loved helping the children get through their fears. I’ve always enjoyed being around kids; I babysat and taught dance, and it was a perfect fit,” say Dr. Revell.
