Good Friday morning to you!

I just returned from a long road trip to California, driving my oldest daughter’s “stuff” in a U-Haul across the country to her new apartment. My wife Jolene and I decided to take the south route to avoid any bad storms. If you watched or read any national weather in the past week, you know that didn’t work out so well for us. Snow in Missouri. Snow in Kansas. Snow in Oklahoma. Snow in New Mexico. Snow in Arizona. But once we made our way to California, the weather cooperated. The 10-foot couch we moved up three flights of stairs? Not so much. Some of you can relate. I remember my dad helping me move, and I am sure he had many of the same thoughts that crossed my mind. But he simply smiled and enjoyed the moment, and I tried to as well. It’s another stage of life that I am glad to experience.

Thanks for reading.

Garage features ram — and it’s not a truck

Ted Rives’ Waukee garage is your typical suburban space, filled with a workbench, projects, a vehicle — and a ram’s head.
Rives, who has been living in Waukee for more than a year after previously living in Woodward, has a stuffed dall ram’s head mounted on the wall. It’s impossible to ignore.
“Me and my dad went on a wild hog hunt in Texas 15 years ago, and while there, and were offered a ram hunt, so we decided to do that as well,” he says.
