Good Tuesday morning to you!

Did you make your bed this morning? Whether you did or did not says more about you than you might think. It’s a ritual for my wife and me, a habit we have maintained for more than 25 years. We don’t even question whether or not we are going to make the bed each morning. We just do it.
Now I know that some of you are thinking that making your bed every morning is just something those obsessive-compulsive folks do while the rest of us focus on what’s really important. Maybe. But before you cement that idea, consider what Jacqueline Sinfiel, author of "Untapped Brilliance,” suggests. She says that making your bed allows you to experience your first “win" for the day; improves your self-esteem by crossing things off your to-do list; gives you an opportunity to take care of and nurture yourself; makes your whole room look tidier; and makes you feel accomplished and good about yourself, which brightens your mood.
An even stronger case for making your bed each morning comes from U.S. Navy Admiral William McRaven about his experience as a Navy Seal, claiming that, if you want to change the world, you should start off by making your bed. Some of you have viewed his University of Texas commencement speech before, but even if you did, it’s worth another look. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3sK3wJAxGfs
And if that doesn’t motivate you to make your bed each morning, I am not sure what will. Have a terrific Tuesday, and thanks for reading.

Karwoskis build house next door:
Staying in “forever neighborhood” with new house

By Lindsey Giardino

About four years ago, Emily Karwoski and her husband, Matt, moved from Ankeny to Bondurant’s Efnor Estates, where they built a wheelchair-accessible home.
The move was motivated by the couple’s desire to find a smaller community in which to raise their young son, Ethan, who is now 5 years old, yet still be close to the metro, since         Emily works in downtown Des Moines.
The Karwoskis felt like their three-bedroom ranch was the perfect place for their family of three, and they were attached to the neighborhood. They weren’t planning to have any more children, but then their son’s birth mother — the Karwoskis have an open adoption — became pregnant again and asked the couple if they wanted to adopt her daughter. They did.
