Good Wednesday morning to you!

My friend and fellow CITYVIEW columnist Kristian Day (Des Moines Forgotten) has created a documentary, “FAIRTOWN," which premiered at the Kansas City FilmFest International this past weekend. It is a 9-minute short about the front lawn parking lots of the Iowa State Fair and was inspired by the "HEAVY METAL PARKING LOT” film from 1986.
I had the privilege of seeing Kristian's film early on, and I asked him if I could share the final result with all of you. He readily agreed, pointing out that this is an exclusive, as it is not yet available to the general public. Kudos also to comic artist Kevin Gentilcore, who designed the promotional image you see here.
If you attend the Iowa State Fair and have dealt with trying to find a parking spot there (and who hasn’t?), then you will find this to be immensely entertaining. Kristian is a talented filmmaker, and he captures the essence of one of the many aspects of the fair incredibly well in this documentary. Take nine minutes and check it out here: https://bit.ly/3pLkj5k
Have a wonderful Wednesday, and thanks for reading.

Wednesday Recipe

Lemon-Baked Cod
While the holidays can be fun, it’s been time to get back to healthy eating, and that means lots of fish for us. I’ve been experimenting with different seasonings, and this one is a favorite in our home. This must be fresh cod from the meat counter to make it the best possible tasting. Also, keep in mind that this isn’t fried cod, so it won’t be crispy. It will, however, be a healthy meal that can be served with a great side of steamed veggies. Enjoy a lighter dish with this recipe.

FROM KCCI: After J&J vaccine pause, added hesitancy more of a concern than supply crunches

DES MOINES, Iowa — Experts and health officials in Iowa don't expect the federal pause in Johnson & Johnson vaccine distribution to be a major logistical challenge, but there are worries that the announcement could make vaccine hesitancy a harder issue to tackle.

From a logistical standpoint, Tuesday's pause has already altered or postponed a number of vaccine clinics in Central Iowa, including in Webster County. Kari Prescott, the county's public health director, said the county had to cancel a planned Johnson & Johnson clinic scheduled for Wednesday. Roughly 160 people had signed up. READ MORE FROM KCCI

DES MOINES, Iowa — Iowa lawmakers for the fourth time have approved restrictions aimed at stopping animal welfare activists from documenting animal abuse at livestock farms.  The latest bill passed the Iowa House on Monday night after getting through the state Senate last week. The bill received bipartisan support in both chambers and is likely to be signed by Republican Gov. Stacked higher than ever:
Bondurant couple helps set new mattress-stacking world record

By Darren Tromblay

Prior to Jan. 5, BoxDrop Des Moines owners Sean and Heather Senarighi probably never imagined in their wildest dreams that they would be a part of something that, legitimately, is the best in the entire world.
But there the Bondurant residents were, in TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida on that night, attempting to set a new world record for mattress stacking.
Twenty-four feet, 4 inches later, they are the kings of the world. And mattresses.
BoxDrop Des Moines, a part of franchising company Retail Service Systems, teamed up with Corsicana Mattress Company in an attempt to break the previous record of 22 feet, 9 inches. Sean and sons Braden and Hunter were given the honors of doing the stacking.
