Good Friday morning to you!

Here is a question for all you men who are married with children. Is Mother’s Day about your mother, or is it about the mother of your children? Don’t act like you have never thought about this question. I know you have. Maybe not out loud or in front of certain people, but you have definitely wondered.
The name itself would imply that this holiday is about your mother, right? And since my wife is not my mother (at least I hope not), then this question is answered. Ah, if only it were that simple.
Those of us who are married with children know that to not acknowledge your wife on Mother’s Day could result in a serious marital mind game, and we all know who wins that game.
So, as a result, most of us have learned — sometimes the hard way — that we have multiple responsibilities on Mother’s Day. We need to give thanks to the woman who birthed us, and we also need to help our children give thanks to the woman who birthed them. And we can top it off by giving them both a big hug and telling them that we love them.
For those of you just realizing now that this Sunday is Mother’s Day, don’t worry; you still have time. And for all you moms, enjoy Mother’s Day. You deserve it.
Have a fantastic Friday, and thanks for reading.

Tina Powell has two houseboats

By Jeff Pitts

Why does Tina Powell own two houseboats? This is a reasonable question, according to    Powell, who readily admits that possessing a pair of floating homes wasn’t the original idea. Instead, refurbishing a fixer-upper was her plan, but the best-laid plans usually require super-human patience. After hours of hard labor in gutting the boat’s interior and beginning to resuscitate the vessel, getting nearer to the goal brought about visions of fun in the sun while livin’ la vida Saylorville. This proved to be Kryptonite for the fixer-upper plan.

“I need a boat that can be in the water by Memorial Day,” her brain insisted.
